Steering, Suspension & What Failure Feels Like

Steering and suspension are the systems that decide where the tyres of the last two lessons actually point and how firmly they stay pressed to the road. This is a driver's lesson, not a mechanic's: you won't repair anything here, but you'll learn to recognise early failure through your hands and your seat, and — the part that matters — to know how urgent each symptom is. Two of them (power-steering loss and the pothole strike) are the ones Kenyan roads hand you most.

  1. 1. Steering & Power SteeringState the handbook's two steering checks, and handle a sudden power-steering failure without mistaking heaviness for a lock.
  2. 2. Suspension Is a Grip SystemExplain why suspension is a safety (grip) system, not a comfort feature, and where worn shocks cost you most.
  3. 3. The Symptom Table and the Pothole CheckUse the two locating questions and the symptom table to place a steering/suspension fault, and run the pothole-aftermath check.
