Lights, Indicators & the Law
"Lights" sounds like the simplest topic in the module and is secretly one of the most legislated. This lesson separates two laws people blur together — the equipment law (what your lights must be) and the usage law (what you must do with them) — then the prohibited-modification list the police actually enforce, and the everyday signals (indicators, hazards) that half of Kenyan drivers use wrong. The through-line: your lights are how you're seen, and being seen is the cheapest safety you own.
- 1. The Equipment LawState the lamp requirements (number, position, colour, reach) and the dazzle-elimination rule that makes a dip function a legal requirement.
- 2. The Usage Law: When You Must DipApply the handbook's dipping distances and the defensive eyes-left technique against oncoming glare.
- 3. What's Prohibited, and What It CostsIdentify the prohibited modifications and the s.58 penalty, explain why the distance-based statute lets blinding LEDs persist, and state where an auxiliary lamp is legitimately fitted and used
- 4. Indicators, Hazards & Daytime VisibilityUse indicators and hazard lights for their legal meanings, recognise the fast-flash bulb fault, and apply daytime-visibility guidance.
